About the Author

Marvin L. Bittinger, has been teaching, writing, and speaking for over 48 years. Since receiving his Ph. D. in mathematics Education from Purdue University in 1968, he has been at Indiana University – Purdue University at Indianapolis where is now a Professor Emeritus of Mathematics Education. He is one of Pearson Education’s top-selling authors, having sold over 13 million copies of his college mathematics textbooks in 250 books and editions. Dr. Bittinger is a regular speaker at mathematics education conferences, and at Christian conferences for college students, national Christian academic conferences, and churches.

Professor Bittinger’s hobbies include baseball, softball, golf, and hiking in Utah. Marv truly loved his time at Purdue, and his fondness for the university has carried over to his family. He and his wife, Elaine; sons, Lowell and Chris; and granddaughters, Emma, Sarah, Maggie, and Claire; have traveled near and far to support the Boilermakers (aka, “Makers”) in athletic competitions. In addition to watching Purdue softball games in Arizona and California, Marv also annually attends the Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City.
